
BIOGRAPHY
Luis González Garrido was born in Utrera (Spain) and trained in prestigious schools in Spain, France and Belgium.
He has been awarded in numerous saxophone and chamber music competitions, 8 times with the 1st prize. He has also been awarded with a scholarship by Igartza Musika after winning the competition of the same name. The last prize was in December 2022 with the 1st prize at the Music Performance Prize of the Colegio de España in Paris and INAEM.
Luis regularly gives concerts on the European scene as soloist and in chamber music with Duo Métis (with the French guitarist Antoine Guerrero), Orlando Bass, Karen Kuronuma and other artists. He has participated in festivals such as "Les Nuits d'été de la Citadelle" (France), "Festival Internacional de Música de Piantón" (Spain), "Festival Jeunes Talents" (France), "Ciclo de Música de Cámara de Utrera" (Spain) "Vaison Dances" (France), "Ciclo Igartza Musika " (Spain), " Ciclo de Música de Cámara Kutxa Kultur " (Spain), " Festival Jeunes Solistes de Breuillet " (France) " Musique en Ubaye " (France), among others.
Some of the venues he has performed in include La Régence (Brussels), Petit Palais (Museum of Fine Arts in Paris), Théâtre Antique de Vaison-la-Romaine, Centre Pompidou (Paris), Teatros del Canal (Madrid), Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla, Palacio San Telmo (Seville), Sala Luis Buñuel del Colegio de España (Paris), Maison du Liban (Paris), Théâtre de Verdure (Courbevoie), L'Odéon (Tremblay-en-France), Auditorium Claude Debussy (Versailles), Teatro Enrique de la Cuadra (Utrera), among others.
His curiosity leads him to play early music, classical, contemporary and other styles (such as flamenco), actively collaborating with important composers in the creation of new works as a soloist and with their different projects, premiering works by Félix Ibarrondo, Orlando Bass, Carmen Verdú, Alfonso Romero, José del Valle and José Ramón García, among others. He has also worked on modern repertoire with his respective composers such as Thierry Escaich, Vincent David, Fuminori Tanada, among others.
Luis is currently an ambassador for the clamp brand JLV Sound Paris. He combines his artistic work with teaching, and has been a professor at the Courdimanche Conservatory since 2021. He is also saxophone tester at Henri Selmer Paris.
